Surane interviews award-winning photojournalist Jo-Anne McArthur, who shares her life in Toronto with her rescue dog, Banjo. The author of two books, We Animals (2014), and Captive (2017), Jo-Anne is well known for her heroic efforts in documenting the plight of animals around the world. Jo-Anne's work and her often challenging lifestyle were the focus of the documentary The Ghosts in Our Machine (2013).

A proud resident of LA, he hails from Warrensburg, Missouri, a city fondly known for the origin of the phrase "Man's Best Friend." Warrensburg is also home to his 16-year-old best bud Oscar, who's now enjoying his twilight years with Evan's lovely parents.
